My Story

While my childhood home was in a Detroit suburb, a big chunk of that childhood was spent in the wild places of Michigan. We sat around campfires in farmers fields in the Thumb, staring up at an infinite expanse of starry skies. Long summer days saw us in the lake in front of my grandparents’ cottage. Countless weekends were spent camping in the endless forests of the Northwoods, canoeing the rivers and hiking the deer paths.

This was where I learned what it meant to belong to something. Not just to a place, but to something greater. It was a love affair from the very beginning.

I spent much of my time drawing as well (mostly horses if I’m being honest, yes I was and still am a horse girl).

Over the years I explored my passions of art and the natural world in many ways. From graduating Kendall College of Art and Design, to moving to Colorado, exploring the mountains, becoming a certified herbalist, working for various design businesses, and finally moving back home to Michigan.

Now, my life looks a lot like my childhood. I hike through the forests with my own little one in tow. I come home and spend long nights in the studio, carving wood blocks to print my experience of the world.

There are no unsacred places; there are only sacred places and desecrated places.
